Mirage Fountain to Feature on Cops

February 18, 2008

A famous Las Vegas landmark makes a showing on Cops in the US tomorrow. During the show you will see police detain a man for walking through the fountains at The Mirage. The officers gave the suspect a warning for stealing money and make him empty his pockets and return the money to the fountain.

This must happen regularly all over Las Vegas in the various fountains there are - with people throwing coins to try and get good luck, and people who have already run out of good luck collecting the cash. This guy just has to be lucky the volcano hadn’t started erupting!

This episode will be shown tomorrow, Saturday 19 Jan from 8-9pm ET/PT on FOX. Us viewers in the UK will probably just have to wait for about 5 years.

Christmas in Las Vegas

December 19, 2007

I often wonder what Christmas in Las Vegas would be like - I mean we all know how the city likes to party at such events as New Year, Superbowl and Fight Nights, but Christmas just seems a bit of a weird time to spend in the great city.

Last time I visited I took the time to ask a few people what it is like and what I heard was quite surprising. The build up in the few weeks before is a great time to visit, with shopping for gifts a prime activity, and also of course the hope of a big win to make the big day that much better.

Christmas day is different though - with most visitors being either locals or non-US, mostly non-English speakers. Of course this doesn’t mean Las Vegas lets it’s reputation as the most over the top city in the world slip, Christmas trees in each Casino battle each other to be the biggest and most decorated and employees are dressed up with plenty of Christmas cheer to entertain the visitors. Also the shows are often run with a Christmas theme.

To be honest I’m not sure I want to visit Las Vegas at Christmas, although one day I might just have to give it a try.

Non-Vegas Quick Links - 28th May 2007

OK, so unfortunately we can’t spend all our time in Vegas (well, not unless we live there), so I sometimes have to get my gambling kick elsewhere. Recently I ‘ve been playing some great Vegas Style Online Casino Games over at Bodog, and have actually done well enough to book another trip for September.

If you are looking for strategies for the different games, then check out wizardofodds.com. They have the mathematically correct way of playing each casino game both online and on land.

For roulette players, I’ve found this free roulette system. You have to sign up to an online casino to get it, but it’s been working well for me so far.
